One source for the world's best saunas.
Boreal Saunas is a US-based wholesale distributor founded in 2024 and headquartered in Fullerton, California. We don't manufacture saunas — we partner with the makers who do it best, from family-run Canadian workshops to long-established European heater brands.
Our job is simple: bring those catalogs together under one roof, negotiate trade pricing, and handle US logistics, support, and white-glove delivery so dealers, builders, and homeowners get a single point of contact instead of a dozen.
Every brand we carry is hand-picked. We vet materials, heater quality, warranty terms, and after-sales support before adding a manufacturer to the lineup. If a sauna isn't good enough for our own showroom, we don't sell it.

A 10,000-year-old room.
The sauna is older than most countries. Long before it was a wellness trend, it was a place to be born, to bathe, to heal, and — at the end — to be laid out one last time.
Pit, smoke, and stone
The earliest saunas were earth pits with stones heated red, then doused with water. The Finnish savusauna — smoke sauna — burned for hours without a chimney before bathing. Soot lined the walls. The air was sweet, dense, and antibacterial.
A sacred room
In Finnish folk belief the sauna had its own spirit, the saunatonttu. You spoke softly inside. You didn't argue. The phrase "saunassa ollaan kuin kirkossa" — in the sauna, behave as in church — is older than anyone alive.
Heat and cold
The cycle of löyly followed by a plunge into a frozen lake isn't theatrics — it's a vascular workout that ancient bathers stumbled into thousands of years before cardiologists confirmed it.
From cabin to continent
Finnish settlers brought the sauna to the forests of Minnesota, the Upper Peninsula, and the Pacific Northwest in the 1800s. Many of those original cedar rooms are still standing. We've restored a few of them ourselves.
The science behind the sweat.
For a long time the benefits of sauna were folklore. In the last two decades, peer-reviewed studies — many from the University of Eastern Finland — have caught up with what bathers already knew.
Cardiovascular health
A 20-minute session raises heart rate to levels comparable with moderate exercise. A landmark Finnish study of 2,300 men found 4–7 sauna sessions per week reduced fatal cardiovascular events by 50%.
Mental clarity
Heat exposure triggers BDNF and endorphin release. Regular bathers report measurably lower rates of depression, anxiety, and cognitive decline as they age.
Deeper sleep
The post-sauna core-temperature drop mirrors the body's natural sleep signal. Most owners report falling asleep faster and reaching deep sleep earlier within the first month of use.
Immune resilience
Brief, repeated heat stress upregulates heat-shock proteins and white blood cell production — the body's own version of a tune-up.
Skin & circulation
Vasodilation flushes capillaries close to the skin's surface, clearing pores and delivering oxygen. The 'sauna glow' is real and measurable.
Recovery & detox
Sweat carries out heavy metals, lactic acid, and metabolic waste. Athletes use heat protocols to recover from training in roughly half the time.

How to bathe, properly.
A sauna isn't a hot box you sit in until a timer beeps. It's a rhythm. Done well, an evening session takes 60–90 minutes and leaves you feeling rebuilt.
- 01LöylyWater on hot stones. The breath of the sauna — soft, humid heat that wraps the room.
- 02Heat15–20 minutes at 80–95°C. Sit high for intensity, low for a gentler bake.
- 03CoolCold plunge, snow, or a quiet outdoor minute. The contrast is where the magic lives.
- 04RestWater, conversation, silence. Repeat the cycle two or three times. This is the rhythm.
Why Western Red Cedar.
Stays cool to the touch
Cedar's low density and high air content mean benches stay comfortable even when the room is at 95°C.
Naturally rot-resistant
Cedar's heartwood contains thujaplicins — compounds that resist mould, mildew, and insects without chemical treatment.
Acoustic and aromatic
Cedar absorbs sound and releases a soft, calming scent when warmed. The room hushes the moment you close the door.
Build a room you'll keep for life.
